New Brunswick is a city of over 55,000 people occupying 5.22 square miles of land. It has a high crime rate attributable to its dense population. The New Brunswick Municipal Court is one of the busiest in New Jersey. If you have been charged with an offense that requires you to appear in New Brunswick Municipal Court contact one of our experienced attorneys. Our criminal defense attorneys appear in municipal courts throughout the state on a daily basis. Over the last three decades, we have successfully represented hundreds of people charged with crimes or traffic infractions. A large part of our practice is also dedicated to DWI defense. We are certified in the field sobriety procedures and Alcotest used by the police in a DWI arrest. These qualifications help us weaken the State’s case and strengthen yours.
New Brunswick Municipal Court DocketThe New Brunswick Municipal Court hears many disorderly persons offenses and traffic violations, such as underage drinking, possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct, lewdness, resisting arrest, speeding, careless or reckless driving, driving while suspended, among many others.
These charges can have serious ramifications if you are convicted: up to $1,000 in fines, a criminal record, and up to six months in jail. Seeking good legal representation is important, especially for a DWI charge. There are no plea bargains for DWIs, which means you cannot reduce a DWI charge to lesser charge, so your lawyer has to be able to identify issues in the state’s case which would either cause the charges to be dropped or the sentence to be reduced. Members of our firm will use their specialized training in DWI law and DWI road tests to your advantage.
The New Brunswick Municipal Court is presided over by Hon. E. Ronald Wright. He received his law degree from Rutgers School of Law and has been a member of the US District Court since 1973. Judge Wright hears an average of 75-100 disorderly persons cases weekly, in addition to 100-125 DWI charges and traffic tickets / citations.
